Hello! I’m Curtis Hause, furniture maker and your friendly neighborhood “wood guy” tucked into the heart of Newport News, Virginia. I got started in the craft in 2018 due to my own furniture needs. I was fed up with wobbly particle board junk that was falling apart all around my apartment. I needed something honest and solid, that would actually last. So, I figured why not just make something myself?  I quickly fell down the rabbit hole of woodworking and discovered a true passion for making things with my own hands.

If you're anything like me and are tired of all the mass produced, cheap garbage abundant in the furniture industry, you've stumbled upon the right place. I design and handcraft each of my pieces myself from start to finish, using high quality domestic hardwoods and traditional hand cut joinery. No two pieces are exactly alike. Subtle hand tool marks are evident to the touch. Not in a sloppy, poor craftsmanship sort of way, rather in a way that is satisfying to accidentally discover when touched and that proves a real person actually made it, not an automated assembly line. Finishes are all clear, hand rubbed oils and waxes that highlight the true beauty and warmth of the natural wood. These sorts of finishes age gracefully and can be easily repaired or revitalized when life takes it’s toll. And that’s important, because my work will last a lifetime like real furniture should.
